Our holistic approach ensures that every child receives the tailored care they need to thrive in their community, school, and home environments, while simultaneously giving families the resources they need to advocate for their child’s future.
We offer a wide range of specialized programs, starting with thorough, professional evaluations to identify your child’s unique needs. From there, our Special Education Itinerant Services (SEIS) deliver targeted, in-classroom support, working collaboratively with local educators to foster an inclusive, effective, and encouraging learning atmosphere for your child.
Beyond direct educational intervention, we are deeply committed to family empowerment through our OPWDD Self Direction waiver services. With the dedicated guidance of our Fiscal Intermediary and Agency Brokerage teams, we assist families in navigating Medicaid billing, managing staff, and personalizing budgets so you have the confidence and authority to make the best choices for your child’s care.
Evaluating Needs, Supporting Growth
Children At Play is an approved screening and evaluation site for infants, toddlers, and young children suspected of having a developmental delay or disability. Evaluations are conducted at no direct cost to parents through the NYC Department of Education (CPSE). Our team of evaluators are New York State licensed and certified professionals. Screenings and assessments may look at all areas of a child’s development and/or may target a specific area of expressed concern.
Evaluating Needs, Supporting Growth
SEIS (Special Education Itinerant Services) is a special education program that
provides a Special Education Itinerant Teacher (SEIT) to support the specific learning requirements of an eligible child who is enrolled in a community preschool or daycare center. Services are provided as approved on the child’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP) by a licensed certified special education teacher. The SEIT will work directly with the child and assist the classroom teacher in modifying the learning environment or instructional methods that would best meet the child’s needs. The SEIT provides instruction and activities that work toward goal achievement.
Funding Independence, Freedom with Support
Self Direction is a waiver service through OPWDD. Self Direction allows the participant to take control of the services and supports that they feel are important to them by allowing Budget Authority and Hiring Authority. Through SD you will need a Fiscal Intermediary and Broker to assist you with managing your staff and your budget.
Fiscal Intermediary
Our Fiscal Intermediary (FI) team offers individualized attention to each participant in the program, assisting the participant and their family with billing Medicaid, onboarding and paying your com hab and respite staff, managing your budget, and offering suggestions for services allowable through your budget.
Agency Brokerage
Our Agency Brokerage offers one-to-one attention to each participant. Assisting in walking you through the steps of self-direction, building your budget around your needs, making suggestions, and remaining a direct support on your team!
